Assistance during the first week
Your baby is here! Your baby’s arrival ushers in a busy time. You need your rest in order to recover and adjust to the new situation. We and the maternity care assistant are here to help with all of this.
Feeding the baby
Breastmilk is the most natural and healthiest nourishment for your baby’s first six months. Formula is a good alternative if you are unable or do not want to breastfeed. Preparation during your pregnancy is key. We and the maternity care provider are here to help with feeding in the first week postpartum.
Heel prick test and hearing test
The heel prick screens your baby for a number of rare diseases. Early detection of these can prevent damage to health. This also applies to the hearing test: early detection leads to early treatment.
Registration of birth
You must register the birth of the baby in the municipality where your child was born within three days of delivery. This is the legal proof of your baby’s birth.
IUD
An intra-uterine device (IUD) is a highly reliable form of contraception that can be used while breastfeeding. We offer IUD insertion from 10-12 weeks postpartum as one of our services, for both copper and hormonal IUDs. Immediately after insertion we check the position of the IUD with an ultrasound.
First aid for childeren
Accidents are waiting to happen…Annually more than 1.5 million accidents happen in and around the home. As a parent or carer you are often the first one to deal with an accident. That’s why we organise a first aid for babies and young children course every month.
